It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. We had an exciting 2016 which started off with a successful membership drive — 88 new and returning members. In May, the community celebrated our 52nd Annual BBQ. It was a fantastic time of serving over 700 meals, enjoying great tasting goodies from our bake sale and participating in the silent and live auctions. Planning is already underway for our next BBQ on May 13th so don’t forget to mark your calendars for this exciting event.
In the month of November, we honored our firefighters and their families with an appreciation dinner. It was a special time of showing gratitude and thankfulness for volunteers who risk their lives protecting our surrounding communities. We coordinated and developed the MVFD new website which came online January 2017. The website provides historical and current news about the facility, including pictures of our firefighters. There is a calendar of events section, along with membership information and instructions on how to join and pay fees on line. Also, there is a link to the MVFD face book page which provides additional news.
The Mico Volunteer Fire Department has continued to support our growing community throughout this past year. Our courageous fire fighters were called out to numerous auto accidents and fires in the surrounding area. The year ended with many of our friends, neighbors and guests attending the annual Mico Community Christmas party. A BIG thank you to all the volunteers that helped to make all MVFD events a great success.
MVFD Board of Directors: There were no new members added to the board. MVFD is looking for new volunteers to serve as Board members – term of office is two (2) years.
